Microsoft vista print spooler keeps stopping

We then just bought this brand new Canon MX multifunction printer. We are unable to install it and use it. I verify that it is showing as started, then run the install again, it still comes up with the error. I downloaded the very latest drivers from Canon and run the exe file and I get the same exact result.

This is insane. Please help me. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. I have the same question I tried running the troubleshooter but it came back asking me for a printer name. Microsoft print to pdf was not one of the names but even selecting a regular printer I got "Troubleshooter couldn't identify the problem".

Can some one help me either find the source of the problem or find a way to fix this issue? Up until this issue, I had no problems whatsover with printing to printer or to pdf.

In reply to A. User's post on October 2, Thanks for your reply and the suggestions regards SFC. While I have never found this tool useful in the past, this time it did indeed fix my problem with the print spooler service. I appreciate your time and assistance! In reply to IanNoone's post on October 3, Can someone help me pin down what is happening and find a fix?

Thank you. Please right click each subkey in it on the left pane and click "Delete". All printer drivers which have been installed on your computer will be listed there. Locate and then expand the following registry key. View the list of subkeys. There should only be the following subkeys for the default print monitors:. BJ Language Monitor. Local Port. PJL Language Monitor. USB Monitor. If there are any subkeys other than the subkeys that are listed above has to be deleted.

To do this, right-click each subkey that is not on the list, and then click Delete. Click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the deletion. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard.

Go to safe mode. Open "My Computer" and browse to the folder:. Go to the Following folder. If its 64 bit edition Need to check the x64 folder in all the location above mention.

And then delete all the files and the folders in the following 3 folders. Check Whether the Spooler services is Working Properly. Try to Install the Printer Drivers and Application. In addition, you also can refer to the following thread:. Hope it helps.
