Ragnaros sound files 4.2
We ended up dealing with it just by spreading out slightly once they come out - we could still AoE them and they don't hurt that much. Transition - same as the previous one, with added Lava Scions, which tanks have to remember to pick up, hit a couple times, and ignore until the sons are dealt with. Leave one son with low health until the scions are dead or until ragnaros re-emerges, at which point the son has to be quickly killed or it will explode. You really don't want scions alive when the next phase starts, as DPS is very important here.
Phase 3 - the only difference from normal is world in flames, same as phase 2. We always kept trying when the second meteor spawned, but we never got far into phase 4 this way. Phase 4 - the most important part is getting the meteor s out of the way. This is when most defensive cooldowns will be used. The raid has to be precise at positioning within breadths note: in 4. We didn't bother with making people run out to kite meteors, usually knocking it back on cooldown was enough to keep it away until the second breadth spawns.
Once the meteor is down, it should stabilize as you don't have to be in a hurry anymore and people can stay around in the old breadth until the way is clear. The main challenge at this point other than not being overrun by dreadflames is for tanks to quickly react to roots spawns. The roots will often spawn right next to ragnaros, and he has to be moved away until Empowered Sulfuras which happens in 8 seconds, unless he stops to cast more dreadflames.
If this is not done, the roots will be wasted and you will have to taunt-kite the boss for 10 seconds, which means a lot of wasted tank cooldowns for surviving superheated and additional stress.
A good strategy is for the tank not currently on the boss to move out a few seconds before the roots spawn, ready to taunt the boss if he needs to be moved quickly. Once roots spawned and the boss is away from them, the other tank runs behind the roots and gets ready to taunt. The first tank has to remember to stop attacking. Dreadflames in man is only handled by one person with cloudburst, in our case it was a balance druid who spent most of phase 4 in cat form for faster movement. This phase is very prone to randomness, e.
If breadths spawn in the middle of dreadflames, you're out of luck, you will have to wait for the next one and hope its close by. On our first kill we had very lucky spawns, with 3 breadths spawning in almost the same place. Comment by SDimou I have a really important question to ask about the Molten Elemental adds in 2nd phase. I know for sure that they are immune to Taunt but when they spawn, do they fixate on a person until they are dead or is there a way to aggro them e.
Please help :. Comment by artyfarty Rogue facts Rogues can kick meteors using Redirect. Yes, Redirect itself will knock back the meteor. No need to throw anything at it.
Killing Spree is not as dangerous here as one might think. Feint works on all AOE mechanics. Yes, he parrys a lot. It's very easy to vanish and massrez here. However some strat posts talk about a or split scenario. Can someone clarify? Comment by GreenStorm As for arcane mages in transitions since they don't have stuns they have to nuke one add as fast as possible I use this tac: 1 Pop up before the mob spawns.
And Arcane Power is always helpful. Comment by Namnalia Some tips we wiped 97 times for before finally getting our kill yesterday on the heroic ragnaros 10m : General: Don't waste your time with bad setups. We benched our resto shaman and dps warrior from the very beginning and had our feral dd respec to balance.
Phase 2: We optimized our complete setup for this phase, taking 2 Owlkins with us and only one melee. Our tactic was going together from one side to the other, spawning all of the adds in one point. Our warlock me and our arcane mage, however, started on the opposing side.
This way, we could actually help bombing you always have aggro of the add you spawned yourself while the melee finished one of our adds, leaving one harmless add for the cleanup. This tactic changed P2 from nearly unmanageable to easy. Before P2. This way, you can optimize the dps on the adds. With good spawn points, we occasionally started P3 without Scions. Phase 3: we had our hunter and healers take care of the meteors as much as possible to free up the dps, but I guess the main key to success is a good Phase 2.
Phase 4: Rule number one is definitely: Don't panic. We had one range DD an owlkin on meteor duty, meaning that he would kick it away again and again and announce the moment we kite it into our zone usually parallely to the first roots.
Afterwards, it's basically tank and spank with a twist, just be communicative about dreadflame spawnpoints. Right before roots spawned, our offtank left the camp to taunt the boss away from roots spawning right under him happens more often than you would think, especially on good tries. We had some tries where the dreadflames seemed rather unmanagable spawning as far apart of each other as possible everytime , but in most of the cases, if your fire extinguisher knows what he's doing, he'll manage it.
This made the whole progression a lot funnier without causing any unneccessary wipes. Comment by citrique As of 4. Obviously this trivializes the encounter. Comment by The Firelord and his brethren once held sway over the entire world. As a servant of the Old Gods, he fought against the Titans for domination over the planet. The victorious Titans banished him and his brethren to the Elemental Plane — there to remain imprisoned until the end of time. It was then and there that the brothers turned on each other.
For five millennia a battle was fought at the core of this world. Thunderaan was utterly defeated and the Firelord feasted upon his essence, but was unable to consume him entirely. Ragnaros divided what remained between his servants, Baron Geddon and Garr. In the center of a vast lake of fire in the Elemental Plane stands Sulfuron Keep, the home of Ragnaros. Until comparatively recently, he ruled his underground land with a molten iron fist.
Around three hundred years ago the ambitious and ruthless Dark Iron clan initiated a war against their dwarven brethren, the Bronzebeard clan and Wildhammer clan, thinking that they were about to unite against the Dark Irons.
Mudgod was succesful in her assault upon the Wildhammer dwarves, but Thaurissan proved less succesful. The Bronzebeard dwarves repelled his attack and quickly dispatched aid to the Wildhammer dwarves.
In a short time, the Dark Irons' fortunes took a turn for the worse, and they were pushed back to the city of Thaurissan, the Dark Iron dwarven home. Thaurissan, seeking to summon a supernatural minion that would turn the tide of the war back to his favor, called upon the ancient powers sleeping beneath the world. To Thaurissan's surprise, and ultimately his doom, the creature that emerged was more terrible than any nightmare he could have imagined.
Now, freed by Thaurissan's call, Ragnaros erupted into being once again. Ragnaros' apocalyptic rebirth into Azeroth shattered the Redridge Mountains and created a raging volcano at the center of the devastation. The volcano, known as Blackrock Mountain, was bordered by what is now known as the Searing Gorge, to the north, and the Burning Steppes, to the south. Though Thaurissan was killed by the forces he had unleashed, his surviving Dark Iron clan brethren were ultimately enslaved by Ragnaros and his elementals.
Many Dark Iron dwarves remain within the lower areas of the mountain, especially Blackrock Depths, toiling away at the behest of Ragnaros and the Firelord's lieutenants. They worship Ragnaros, considering him not only a Elemental Lord but also an Old God, although he is only affiliated with the Old Gods.
The Bronzebeards and Wildhammers, however, remain free. Witnessing the horrific devastation and the fires spreading across the southern mountains, the Bronzebeards' King Madoran and Wildhammers' King Khardros halted their armies and hastily turned back towards their kingdoms, unwilling to face the awesome wrath of Ragnaros.
Now he lies at the bottom of that volcano on Azeroth, striving to find a way home, as well as to gather his strength once again so he can burn away Azeroth and take it for his own. Meanwhile, in Sulfuron Keep and elsewhere across the Firelands, his elemental princes battle constantly for dominance.
He and his dwarven minions took control of the Blackrock mountain's volcanic depths and made war on the orcs in the Upper Blackrock Spire, which served as the seat of power for Nefarian the black dragon.
Ragnaros has uncovered the secret to creating life from stone and plans to build an army of unstoppable golems to aid him in conquering the whole of Blackrock Mountain.
Comment by View in 3D! He has legs. Comment by Vorderie Holy cow! He has freakin' legs! Comment by Zeetex Drop chances on HC 10 is bugged. Comment by This is where I say, "Kill it! Kill it with fire! Comment by Texxi As of Patch 5.
I can only say that Ragnaros himself now has 63 million hp in 10 player heroic mode because the adds were going down too fast ;. Comment by Did this boss yesterday, first time for me, it was a mess and it was harder to learn than Deathwings madness.
Comment by catadon22 Molten core was merely a setback Comment by Hominghead As of current patch 5. Very frustrating and annoying when you just wanna kill the other bosses on normal. Comment by Everliving14 Soloable on heroic mode. Comment by Stabhorn Ragnaros lies supine, the extinguished remnants of Sulfuron lay beside him. He starts as the ghost of Fandral Staghelm materializes over him, and the fires fade from his eyes.
As Fandral kneels next to him, Ragnaros places a hand on his Majordomo's chest. Ragnaros: Fandral! Is it Fandral lays a comforting hand on Ragnaros' gauntlet. Fandral: At long last. No Lord rules forever, my Master. Ragnaros: I see Ragnaros' eyes roll back into his head and he dies, his hand falling to the ground.
Fandral closes his Master's eyes and gently lays him on the ground as Malfurion walks in. Fandral: Without its Master's command, the restless Fire Elementals will become an even greater threat to this world. Fandral stands, facing Malfurion. Fandral: Control must be maintained. There must always be Fandral's ghost disappears. Malfurion walks over to Sulfurus, bends down to pick it up and examines the front of it. Malfurion: The weight of such a burden The scorched caricature of Hamuul is revealed, sitting atop the Fire Lord's throne.
Hamuul: You hold a grim destiny in your hands, Stormrage Malfurion: Runetotem! By the dream Hamuul: Leyara's flame The world of the living can no longer comfort me. Malfurion has ascended the stairs to the Throne and we see him taking the last two steps to stand before Hamuul. Hamuul: Place the hammer in my hands, Malfurion. Forevermore, I will be the jailor of the burning.
Malfurion: No, old friend. I cannot You and these brave heroes have your own destinies to fulfill. This last act of service Malfurion turns toward Hamuul with the Hammer of Ragnaros cradled in his hands before him. Malfurion: You will not be forgotten, thero'shan.
If the world is to live free from the tyranny of fear - they must never know what was done here today. Malfurion nods and accedes to Hamuul's request, sliding the hammer into his hands.
The chamber begins to shake violently as Malfurion looks around. There is a flash of light and Hamuul's eyes are glowing golden yellow as Sulfurus reignites. Hamuul: Tell them only that that Ragnaros is dead The Throne bursts into flame, consuming Hamuul in an inferno.
Comment by culex69 Just solo'd this on my Hunter, was fairy easy. Was hoping for some crazy luck as I had just gotten the mount from Alysrazor on my first run and would have been insane if I had gotten this one to.
Comment by Sardeor Molten core was merely a setback. Comment by To be honest, the room that the Ragnaros fight is in looks a lot like a Bowser Boss Stage from the new 3D Mario games. Comment by Wampirs Yesterday I finnaly soloed him as a arms warrior, after almot like 50 wipes. Ye, i know u will say its possible as an protection warrior, but now it's not so imposible as an arms warrior, so all the warriors so who like Sulfuras, the Extinguished Hand now can go and try to down him and try to get it whit none else to share loot whit.
Comment by Shadowzero Mein Fuhrer! Comment by benx As in 6. It only took me around 30 seconds to kill it. Once he throws the hammer onto the ground, you can either kill the fire elementals before they reach to the hammer, or just pop Ice Block until Raggy comes out again and nuke him down.
He will probably then throw the hammer again before he dies. Each firenova from the fire elemental deals around 4. Arise servants of fire! Sign in with Facebook. Membership is free, secure and easy. Comment by Kazzo I can solo whole MC with my affliction warlock. Let me explain how to solo Ragnaros! Then he starts summoning Sons of Flames these come with eight at a time. The first time I tried Ragnaros he got me there.
So now we know what can kill us you can also survive this, don 't get me wrong but my technique might work way better. So now we know our biggest threat. This is how it works: - Before you start the event, set your pet next to Executes. He will be our tank - Also in the outer ring, place you portal down.
I will explain this later. We want to kill him before he sumberges! So you got about 3 minutes and and a few seconds to kill him. We use the portal to safe us time. Sometimes you don't get knock backed at all but I didn't figure out why not. After 2 mins loot him and be proud! Note: Yes you can kill him in about 2 mins. Instead of portal you could stand in the lava but if you are using life tap often that can be a problem.
Hunter can use disengage instead of portal! Comment by Octapulse If you're having trouble finding the 'sweet spot' where being punted won't result in fallback damage, it's quite feasible at 85 to just sit in the lava and cast at him.
His Magma Blast does around 4k, and you take spell pushback and damage every few seconds from sitting in the lava Rooks rike you're red! Comment by extreme00 Tried to solo him as 80Blood DK got him down to k and then he destroyed me with one move. Comment by menacebysociety This was easily done solo by me, an ilvl prot pally. I did die the first try from the knockback, but kind of gauged where I'd need to be to hit lava instead on my 2nd try.
It's pretty much a tank and spank, just keep your resistance aura up, and upon landing from knockback in lava, of course , head right back up and spank repeatedly :.
I had tried an earlier poster's recommended spot to melee, and it was a difficult spot to master, hence the death on the first try. Comment by coolbond it seems as of patch 4. Comment by Confirmed he can spawn twice in 4. Just happened for me. After running back, killing him, and looting - I suddenly noticed that Majordomo was standing there staring at me. Talked to Domo, and wouldn't you know it, another Rag spawned ontop of the first Rag corpse. I'm wondering if I purposely died on the 2nd Rag spawn, and went back and killed him just like the first.
If a third Ragnaros would spawn, and so-forth Hmmm guess I'll have to try on my other 85 sometime. Comment by orcsmash I died while soloing him and when I returned executus was back to life and rag was still there, so after I killed rag I was able to summon and kill another one.
If this happens to you don't talk to executus before you kill the first one or you might have to deal with two Ragnaroses at once. Comment by I solo'd this guy on my 85 DK, for kicks and for the achievement. After that horrible death, I tried again. Do note that I had no means of falling speed reductions i. Executus, who summons him, respawned again while Raggy stayed after I rezzed and came in again. I downed him twice in 1 day!
Sadly, no Eye dropped on either occasions. Got a solid g from those 2 fights alone minus the 50g required to repair my badly melted weapon. Comment by Malfious No longer immune to fire damage as of 4. Comment by Typical as with all vanilla raids and instances, the last boss always seems the easyiest.
Soloed this boss and all other bosses in Molten Core as a Destruction Lock with hardly and problems, Died once cause could not be bothered to wait for a cooldown. Anyways to summon this boss all the other bosses in this raid MUST be destroyed, Then goto Majordomo Executus Kill all of his gaurds and he will surrender Do NOT try to kill him just kill his gaurds then he will tell you to meet him near where, Ragnaros spawns Talk to him and bingo final boss will spawn after a short conversation.
Good Luck. So any class now can solo MC with zero deaths, too. Comment by Rederoin Just a note to the hunters and maybe warlocks. Ragnaros only punts your pet if he has aggro , not you. So, no need to worry about finding the "sweet spot".
Comment by A pain to heal for. As a druid i was required to Battle Rez one of our top DPS and i had a difficulty getting to his body because he kept tossing me off to a random direction. Easy boss. Definately going for Hand of Rag on my Pally.
Comment by Downed Rag in just over a minute on my warrior. Too easy. Comment by It appears he's no longer immune to fire, did this today as an Enhancement Shaman, and recount shows no damage resisted, my previous times here, my lava lash and flame shock had been useless, but they seem to do full damage now.
I don't recall seeing it in any patch notes though. Edit: I'm still killing him every week on my shaman, he's still not fire immune Comment by With the impending 4.
Mainly wanted the daggers and BF legs but also collectting Nightstalker The entire zone is a pretty easy solo. I stealth past all the trash except the occasional dogs that detect me, and gank bosses. They're pretty easy fights and struggle just to beat through improved Recuperate. I use Evasion on the ones with large groups of trash, by the time my 20sec evade runs out they've all died to FoK spam and the boss follows shortly.
There isn't much else to say, they're too easy to give strategy. I will say that I learned to point Ragnaros a certain direction so that I land on the ground after punts I could also suggest using Cloak on Baron's bomb debuff to avoid being sky tossed, but it'll only work 1 time and he'll get off bombs if you're solo.
On Gar and the others with adds just spam FoK with Evasion. We all want our fancy T5 and weapons for next patch. Whichever set I can fill up by the time 4. I hope it's Deathmantle because that one made a killer PvP set once upon a time and I'd love to wear it for that cause. I also recommend this if you want PvE sets because you will likely have to do them times to get all the pieces and it's only 1 clear per week. I'd seriously have regretted not farming in advance.
Comment by TheRealLink Been giving this guy a go lately for the past few days and I think I'm just not quite there gear-wise yet. Tried the following all with some success all in battle stances : 1. No fire resist though. Figured out how to at least land on the high cliff but can't figure out for the life of me if I can use charge at all while being thrown; it seems to be not at all despite everyone seemingly to say the contrary.
Had no to minor problems with the other bosses but was able to defeat them all except Ragnaros so far. Seems like I take more damage though with Arms spec. It helped slightly but of course no where near enough. Purchased a Mending scroll for my weapon. It helped enough to notice some fight longevity but not enough to counteract his damage. Likewise tried a Windwalker scroll - that too gave some avoiding damage but not quite enough.
Put an enchantment on every piece of armor I had Tried a few Golem potions. Again, nice damage output but not enough. Greatest success so far is pretty much the order listed, though the amounts don't vary by too much I can get him down to the 's finally got into s on my last try but nothing close enough to beat him down yet. Using pot and regeneration but that's pretty much it for healing regardless of setup.
Just not sure if I'm geared up enough just yet. The few warriors posting so far haven't said their levels except for I think, the one I'd imagine I'd be able to kill him at 85 though I hope.
With mending, I finally hit the upper s so getting there ;. After every possible combo I can think of, I think I'll simply have to return and try this again at 84 or Since those two levels continue to offer huge health boosts and recoveries regeneration , I would think it's doable at Comment by bradb Soloed Raggy with my frost mage ilvl with no problems. He was quite possibly the easiest boss to solo in Molten Core.
I stood underneath the rock formation as one usually would, applied mage armor and glyphed frost armor which could have been replaced by something else, it obviously wasn't needed and engaged him, using CDs. He didn't even knockback, he just cast his Magma Blast. His negative frost resistance may have helped, though I have my doubts that he even still has it.
Was a very profitable raid to solo for a frost mage considering the small amount of effort you have to put in. Recorded it, here's the video. Comment by Blacky22 Defeated without any help with my protect pala lvl 83 at second try first died because the falling damage, if you want to avoid it, you must stay at the point where some lava is next to ragnaros So proud of it :D. Comment by genshou Solo'd as an ilvl blood death knight.
Otherwise, a pretty straightforward fight. Comment by Just solo'd him as an 85 Gnomish Fury Warrior with item level.
I just burned him down with bloodthirst constantly and using intercept immediately after his "Wrath of Ragnaros". The hardest part was in fact timing intercepts since it's a very small window in which you can actually use it. I actually missed a few of the intercepts due to either cooldown or just bad timing, the first one dealt me a massive 60k fall damage ouch! I popped Frenzied Regeneration after the 60k hit and bloodthirst wound up keeping me alive throughout the rest of the fight.
I hit the 3 minute timer when he was around k hp and after clearing out his children? All in all it was VERY exciting! Comment by TheRealLink Came back and downed him today ;. Kept getting him between K without any fire resist so added points' worth despite it horribly affecting my gear , and added a mending buff to help migrate the time to cycle ER. From there just executed as fast as I could. For my troubles I got a few purples, blues, and gold.
Comment by rageahol Just killed him as an arms warrior in s10 honor gear and Jeklik's smasher. Comment by I guess people don't like comments on how others solo'ed Ragnaros. On another note, he has a swirly lower half in Molten Core like Al'akir and Neptulon do in Cataclysm, but I guess only him and Therazane get to experience having feet in Cata. Comment by Soloed him with my DK. Whenever he used Wrath of Ragnaros, though, I got knocked into the lava, every time, so fall damage wasn't that much of a deal.
Dropped some tier epics and some world blues. I run through molten core weekly, not only for the right half of the bindings, but because it's fun and a way to kill boredom. The only "trick" is to stand with your back to the widest part of the lava. On the MC map here that is about 9 o'clock. When you get knocked back, you will land in the lava and can swim back over to the boss.
Of course, if you are ranged dps class you can just sit back and burn. Comment by Surge I just want everyone who is wondering to know this boss can be soloed. I did it on my ilvl Boomkin. The only thing to note is that Rag must be killed quickly otherwise he spawns adds and you can't handle them alone. Comment by The Firelord and his brethren once held sway over the entire world. My Croc Pet Kept Agro while we were able to whittle down his hp. Fun To go off an 2 man those old Raids an such. Comment by togahsisoka Taking fall dmg no matter where I land Lava, land, cat form, bear form, it doesn't matter Could have sworn I solo'd him with worse gear Finally found that if you melee approaching him from appoximately 3 o'clock i.
Also note that you don't have to be right up on him to melee, you can be in the middle of the strip of land there and still hit him even though he seems far away. Landing in cat form helps if you're feral, but should still be doable. Comment by Does anyone remember getting your entire guild the buffs from Onyxia and Zul'Gurub not to mention consumables before your fullest attempts at Rag? At level 90 it's as trivial a fight as you would expect, allowing you to ignore all mechanics. As a heroic geared Balance specced Druid the fight lasted 35 seconds, with him doing only 51k damage in total. Comment by I dont exactly know when but he was quite shrank, he looks rather not as scary as he used to be. Comment by WarlockHunter30 I am wondering, is it possible to just have one player in your group sitting in Stormwind while you are just in the raid, slaughtering everything, even trash?
Will the other player get to roll on loot? I hope not. I am asking because I have a lv 89, almost lv 90, hunter, who so dearly wants to get tier 1 hunter gear to transmog and also to get transmog Dragonbreath Hand Cannon.
