Long toss throwing program for outfielders

So you want to be sure they keep them up. We call it coming straight over the top. Reach up, come over the top. If I catch the ball flat footed, straight forward, or on the wrong side, I have to bring it over or across my body and then start my throw. Also, as we progress in skill level, we want to be moving forward to the ball and we want to always have our left foot forward when we catch the ball. Big league pitchers spend far more time preparing to pitch than actually pitching.

After 16 years of playing professionally, Doug retired and took a position as a Major League scout with the Colorado Rockies for 2 years. It is no wonder that there are so many young and older players suffering from arm and shoulder problems when not enough care is taken with the warm up section of baseball.

I just wish that the powers to be here in Australia would see fit to bring guys like Billy out here to spread to gospel so to speak. My son and I feel like were are lone rangers over here in that we are forever pushing for coaches over here to get themselves up to date with what is happening over in the USA.

Once again thank you for putting this out there so hopefully coaches and players will follow suit and do the right thing with their throwing programs. I notice that you are down in Florida. He knows his stuff. We are not living in Florida anymore, we moved to Colorado.
